BASS Megeve lessons at Christmas; Derek Just wanted to drop you a note and thank you again for your time and patience (particularly with me) through our lessons with you on 21-23 Dec.We are really enjoyed our week and felt we gained a lot from the three mornings spent with you and by the end of the week even I was doing greens and blues from the peaks which made me feel good! As promised a copy of the photos we took with you and Dan, Sam and Olivia. I am sure we will be back skiing in Megeve so might well call upon your help again to build upon where we got to and thanks again for making the trip really enjoyable for us. Regards David

Backcountry course Jan 2010 Chamonix; I wanted to let you know we thought the course was great - a really nice mix of learning and application within a fun group atmosphere.  I have to admit I was nervous of the whole group course aspect (I wasn't sure it would be my bag!), but the course sounded good enough to offset that and give it a go and I'm really glad we did because the group aspect made it much more fun and collaborative.  We thought the quality of your instruction was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend you or get some more lessons if we were in the area.  In addition, we felt very safe with Jeff and thought he was an excellent guide.

Backcountry course Jan 2010 Chamonix; Pablo King <http://www.facebook.com/kingzrule> I really appreciate the effort that you and Jeff made to improving our skiing and touring skills, while also making this a very safe and enjoyable trip. I have spent quite a bit of time with guides and ski instructors over the years, but this is the first time that I feel like I have made a quantum leap in my abilities. The course really delivered on the objectives. My trip from the U.S. was pretty uncomplicated, so I would surely consider doing this again. Thank you, again!

check out the backcountry photos...

Backcountry course Jan 2010 Chamonix; Afternoon - just returned from a great week in Chamonix . Cant find Derek's address hence the e-mail to you . BASS Chamonix lessons; Hello. Just did the black run at Brevent! Thanks so much for the lessons. Definitely wouldn't have had the confidence to do it before. Thanks. Johanna Dubois

Shona

3 Day Off Piste Course Jan 2010 Chamonix;

Hi Shona,  Just writing to thank you for a great off piste course last month. We really enjoyed it and at the end of the three days, felt that we had made real progress. Your ability to analyse bad habits and incorrect technique and then to suggest ways to correct them, was exactly what we needed. (my right arm is no longer left behind!) The last day skiing from the top of the Grands Montets with Pete was superb, as was the weather and the additional transceiver training and snow / avalanche awareness was very informative.  We might well be back for more, providing I can remember where I put my Arva!!!

Thanks once again, Peter

I would like to say how much I appreciated the quality of Instruction we received on a recent off-piste course.  Shona was by far the most perceptive ski-instructor I have come across, and Pete, our guide, was great too. Shona analysed areas for improvement for each of the four members of the group and used them to take all of us forward. I felt that we all improved very significantly, although I have to admit that the younger ones progressed faster than I did (at 63)! I used to spend a lot of time observing teachers in schools across Europe and can confidently say that Shona is an excellent teacher.

Private lesson January 2010 Chamonix;

Sounds like Ellen & Bear had a lovely time today, thank you Kat

Shona, Thank you for this and for giving Oscar such a fantastic start to his skiing experience.  He keeps looking at the photos of himself and is very proud!  Will be in touch when we know the dates of our next trip.  Was lovely to see you again.

Lucy

Undoutedly the most brilliant ski instruction I have ever received - What started as a fun day supporting Disability Snowsports turned into one of the best days I've had on the snow in 25 years.  Thanks Shona, unfortunately for you, I'll be back for more!

The best instruction I've had

Two extraordinary people who have set up their own successful business, doing what they enjoy most, whilst helping others take pleasure in learning to enjoy a fabulous pastime who can watch how easy it seems.

It is worthy of a TV program and book rights

Alison

Mountaineers Performance course January 2010 Chamonix;

Hi Kathryn - great meeting you last week - and do please pass on my thanks to Alison - brilliant teacher, and brilliant course.

Team Steve are keen to book next year as well, and will certainly recommend it to friends.

Cheers

Steve P

Dear Shona,  Thanks for the summary. I enjoyed both the skiing with Ally and the crevasse day with Stu, both were interesting and helpful, although the very low temperatures made it a little difficult at times to keep focused!  All the best, Cathy

Great,  Thanks very much. An excellent week with a fun group an a top instructor. Back to the reality of sorting out clients this week, but Rosie and I hope to get out tomorrow morning for a couple of hours in the White Stuff.

Best wishes,  Andy K

I have had experience of a number of different types of ski instructor over the years and she was far and away the best I’ve come across.  Adaptable, very capable and completely knowledgeable – we really felt that the instruction given was spot on and our skiing so much better for it.

A real holiday enhancing experience and we’re very grateful for it, so thanks again.

Philip

 the course was great alison was so wellbalanced and a great teacher, love to come back this year.

 I just love my lessons with Alison and hope to be able to have more next year.

I had some lessons a coupe of years ago with ESF  and was instantly put off anymore until I  tried BASS.  I should have booked them with you in the first place and  we would have  improved  years ago.  I will definitely be a returning  customer. Many thanks.

Yes - We  had Alison and she was excellent we have finally moved on from our intermediate plateau!

Dee

Private Lessons January 2010 Chamonix;

Just a brief note to thank Bass Chamonix for 3 brilliant lessons at Le tour on the mornings of Thursday , Friday and Saturday with Dee.  As a complete beginner Dee immediately put me at ease and explained the basics so well over the three mornings that on Sunday I was Skiing on my own for 5 hours with no falls and I will be coming back to your company again next year for the next stage.

All the best, Kind regards  Neil

Private Lesson January 2010;

Just to say that Kirsty and Susan really enjoyed their lesson with Dee so thanks for that, Kirsty has come on well and is definitely leaving Susan behind now!  Jo

Seasonnaire Training January 2010 Chamonix;

I was in Dee's Class today - it was Fab!!  Many thanks, Anne

Hi Shona, Thanks for your email.  I really enjoyed the seasonnaires programme on Wednesday and I got some great tips from Dee, which I have been practising this week.  Kaz

Yes – Dee O’Neill was exceptional - Molly loved her! Dee was very professional and made Molly feel at ease - which is exactly what you want from a ski instructor.

More Dee’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes – Dee was extremely patient with me and did her best to put me at ease. As an extremely nervous first time skier I couldn’t have asked for a nicer instructor to try and build up my confidence.

 Fantastic experience, really helped make the holiday.  Having not ever skied before, our instructor put us totally at ease, we even enjoyed ourselves.  Fantastic, don’t think there is anything that could have been improved, apart from MY ski-ing ability!

 Yes, because of the way skills were described and conveyed both on and off piste. The lessons were always interesting, fun and challenging!

Kaz

DEE WAS BRILLIANT, REALLY GOOD AT TRANSLATING WORDS INTO ACTIONS, AND I REALLY NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN MY SKIING AND TECHNIQUE.  FURTHERMORE SHE WAS INTERESTING AND CHATTY, GIVING US FAR MORE THAN JUST TUITION – AN INSIGHT INTO MOUNTAIN LIFE, SKIING TECHNIQUES, DIFFERENT TYPES OF SNOW.... SHE WAS FAB AND I’LL DEF USE YOU GUYS AGAIN IF WE COME BACK TO CHAMONIX.  PS DEE WE LOVED LE CAVEAU!!

Anna

Deirdre

I booked these classes for my partner who had only been skiing once before. She enjoyed the class and found them useful and set to right standard for her.

 Mark

Deirdre was an absolute star. We were sorry that we had only booked 2 days lessons. If she would have been available on days 3 and 4 as well, we would have booked up. She made it all very painless and easy. We were also so glad to book a British instructor especially when we saw how the French instructors were teaching!

We had Deidre for beginners lesson on the 4/5th March and had a great time. I learnt so much very quickly.

Dear Shona,

I just wanted to pass on our appreciation about the fantastic teaching we had from Deidre.  The two lessons that we had with her were by far the best skiing lessons we have ever had.  We had a fabulous day today as we have all improved so much - the downside is that now I cannot keep up with my two horrors who insist on calling me Captain Slow!

Many, many thanks for organising our lesson and for finding such an outstanding teacher!  I even understand the book much better now as well!

Hopefully next year we'll return to Chamonix and have some more lessons with you.

 Many thanks, Sally

Hi Shona,

I wanted to say a big thank-you to your team of yourself, Derek, Will and Diedre.  Your support, attitude, tuition and helpfulness really contributed to the success of our trip.  As you know I skied with Diedre for 3 day and really enjoyed her company and I’ve come away having learned a lot about how to improve my skiing – I only hope I remember next season.  I only wish Diedre wouldn’t laugh so loudly or for so long when her clients take a massive head plant in the powder (only joking!).

Thanks again, Regards, Andy

I can fully recommend Dee (Deirdre Angella) to anyone whether they are beginners or advanced skiers. I myself was a complete beginner (to the point where she needed to teach me how to put my skis on!) and on our 4th two-hour session I even managed a bit of a red (!) track under her guidance. And I enjoyed it! I never thought one could learn enough about skiing techniques to manage a red on the 4th day of their skiing ever!

 But that’s largely down to Dee’s excellent teaching skills informed by vast skiing experience as well as her sport psychology background. Her instructions are very clear and easy to follow, she immediately sees what causes problems and works with you on improving it very efficiently. She also gave a few useful tips to my boyfriend (who is a rather advanced skier) and he immediately felt the difference after applying her advice.

Most importantly she is really skilled in building your confidence via positive, friendly and constructive feedback (the sport psychologist is really showing there!). She will not let you feel frustrated or worried on the tracks!

I’m really grateful to Dee for introducing me to skiing – I definitely got the ‘skiing bug’ now and will try to book further lessons with her in the future!

All the best,

Magdalena
