Over
the last couple of years BASS Chamonix has provided tuition
for a number of mountaineers wanting to develop their ski
performance. The primary motivation for many mountaineers
is a wish to improve their skiing for ski touring and
off-piste skiing. We have developed this course
specifically to meet those requirements, and to provide a
learning environment for like-minded people.
The course will
focus on the key skills required to be able to perform
efficiently and with confidence in all snow conditions.
Time will be spent developing techniques for skiing steep
terrain, bumps and powder. The course will also build a
toolbox of skills to enable better, safer skiing in every
snow type that the off Piste world can throw at you from
powder to breakable crust.
The course is
aimed at mountaineers who can ski comfortably on red runs
and having sampled a little of the delights of the off Piste
world now want to get better FASTER..
The 4 day course
will consist of 3 hours of focussed tuition (either 9-12, or
1-4 depending on group), giving you the rest of the day to
practice. There is also a day off in the middle of the week
for rest, or consolidation.
The courses will
run on the following dates:
-
10th
– 14th Dec (with the 12th as a
rest day)
-
17th
– 21st Dec (with 19th as a rest
day)
The cost of the
course is £130.
The group size
will be between 4 – 6.
The course will be
run in the Chamonix valley. The specific venue will depend
upon the weather and snow conditions and will vary
throughout the week. (For the early season course we may
have to venture outside the valley to find the best snow
conditions).
Testimonials
"I
attended a programme of BASS Chamonix group lessons
throughout the winter of 2005/06 run by Alison Culshaw.
The
lessons were aimed at folk who could already ski with some
speed and confidence but were more lacking in the efficiency
and style departments!
I was
particularly impressed with Alison's clear and practical
instructing and the tempo of the lessons which achieved a
great balance between coaching / feedback (talking) and
practice (skiing!).
All of
us were helped to achieve our goal of improved off-piste ski
performance with targeted individual feedback that other
larger ski schools with higher ratios would struggle to
achieve..
I would
highly recommend BASS and Alison to anyone wanting to
improve their off-piste ski performance whether you are a
budding Mountain Guide or just keen to hit the steep and
deep. Bon ski!
